Since I’ve had a couple of requests, I’ve just posted the slides for both my ICFP 2009 presentation, Haskell in the Real World, and my Haskell Implementor’s Workshop presentation, My Dream GHC Environment.
Both presentations were videotaped, and the ICFP one, at least, is supposed to be available soon (perhaps on Google videos). The videos will no doubt be a lot more informative than my slides,
The Workshop presentation is probably not all that interesting, since I’m basically just doing the usual agile-development blah blah blah. I was actually surprised at how good a reaction I got, since most of the other talks were fascinating things about implementing various new and exiting features in GHC, or even, as Connor McBride demonstrated, around it. (His whole presentation was done winging it, and she was very impressive. I now have an intuitive understanding of dependent types, and may I never have to present immediately after him.)
The ICFP 2009 Proceedings have also just come available on line. Only the abstracts are available to those who are not ACM SIGPLAN members, unfortunately, but if anything strikes you as particularly interesting, and you’ll be attending one of my presentations in the near future, please drop me a note and I’ll try to say a few words about it.
